At nearly 103,000 tons, Sunshine Class ships are more than 40% smaller than Carnival's newest ships, such as Carnival Celebration. That said, Carnival Sunshine still offers a solid list of onboard diversions, from a multi-slide water park to a theater showing original musical productions. The 102,853-ton Carnival Sunshine is 12 decks high and carries 3,002 passengers at double occupancy in 1,501 cabins. The ship is one of the more diverse that we’ve sailed, with guests of all races, ages and socio-economic onboard. Every sailing will have a heavy dose of families onboard, especially summer and holiday voyages. Many of the restaurants are more casual in nature; you walk up, order or self-serve, then take it away to your table.
Carnival Jubilee Rooms are Efficient, Offer Options
There were drawers under the couch that were broken or off the tracks. We asked the attendant to get it fixed, but he only “proved” to us it could be opened with great force. There was a false fingernail in the drawer from a past passenger trying to open it. One curtain fell or ripped off of some of its hooks; I rigged up a repair myself. We had stateroom 1354, which was a “Deluxe Oceanview” with the extra half bathroom/tub.
Where does Carnival Celebration sail to?
I enjoyed the Summer Landing deck more than the Serenity and usually avoid the Lido pools. Comfy chairs and sofas and good service from P&A bar. I thought this restaurant had the worse breakfast selection. It was buffet style and did not have much of a selection. Bananas were green, coffee maker was not always working.

If I know when the steward is coming, I can throw the wet towels on the floor, but if I'm unsure, I end up keeping wet towels overnight. There is no air movement in the bathroom to dry them out. I suppose it's a race to the bottom, though, and other cruise brands will soon follow in this service reduction while also raising gratuities.

Entertainment venues and restaurants are spread over several decks, which is great for avoiding high concentrations of passengers at any single spot. The downside is that this places many rooms and suites on Carnival Horizon in the ‘cabins to avoid’ category, as some get noise from below as well as from above. Carnival cruises are casual, with shorts, tee shirts, capris, swimsuits or swim cover-ups de rigueur during the day (no bathing suites in the dining venues, however). Most nights, the dress code on a Carnival Cruises remains much the same, minus the swimwear, though technically the cruise line asks that people not wear shorts into the main dining room. The buffet layout encourages cafeteria-style singular lines. E.g., if you want lunch, but don’t want salad, you have to wait in the long line that starts with salad, and walk past the salad before you get the chance to take anything else.
Carnival Jubilee is a perfect pick for guests who want the ship to be the destination. It offers lots to do for travelers of all ages. Highlights include the Ultimate Playground, which encompasses BOLT rollercoaster, a huge ropes course, minigolf course, waterslides and a splash park for the kids. On "elegant" nights, you'll see a range of clothing from ball gowns, dresses that leave little to the imagination, tuxes and suits to the same shorts and tees people sport all day long. Most men, however, opt for long pants and collared shirts, while women don sundresses, or a skirt or pants with a blouse.
Carnival Cruises Tips, Activities, and Overview
Tomorrow I will write about, photos, food, and spa. I've had one of those deluxe OVs with the extra bath. Debarkation I used 777;7777 They came promptly thesuvwas large enough for the 4 of us and all our luggage. How you remembered so much detail about so many different aspects of the cruise is truly impressive, and your communication style and thread organization deserve a bravo (or WAHOO! on Carnival).
How much does it cost to go on Carnival Celebration?
We've done the math and spent hours sifting through Carnival cruise deals looking for the nuggets -- including calculating what kinds of things can make or break your deal. Shopping for Carnival cruise deals is (as it should be) fun, so let's get started. It's not a shiny, new vessel, so don't expect flawless cabins and the latest attractions. What you can expect, though, is to have nonstop fun thanks to a variety of diversions and an enthusiastic group of like-minded shipmates. On Carnival Sunshine, smoking (including electronic cigarettes) is only allowed in designated outdoor areas and in the casino.
After passing through security you go to a holding area until your group is called. I have cruised several times since 2015 on RCCL. I originally booked the Dream for September of 2020 with my family but it was cancelled. CCL offered a deal that instead of getting a refund, they offers us $600 of OBC and moved our deposit to a future cruise.
Here, you’ll find the ship’s main swimming pool, flanked by casual grab-and-go food options, bars, lounge chairs and seating nooks. The pool sits below a giant movie screen, and films are shown occasionally throughout the cruise. Cruise Critic is not a booking agent and does not charge any service fees to users of our site. Also, we never once heard voices or TV next door. That was awesome, and I think it was more cabin design than quiet neighbors, because one time the cabin attendant was cleaning next door, which I didn’t know until going into the hallway. On other ships, I usually hear the cleaning activity (talking, vacuuming, toilets flushing, lids slamming, bathroom door slamming, etc.).

Attending the daily RedFrog Pub trivia quiz -- it's cumulative, so you play with the same people for the entire cruise for a more intimate experience. Sticking to off-hours for dining and getting up early for morning coffee helped, as did making Deck 5, with its four hot tubs and relatively underutilized lounge chairs, our sunning headquarters. The cheer of the crew also kept us going; with a room steward that brought us copious amounts of ice and towel animals, as well as an outgoing entertainment staff, it was hard to stay irritated for too long.
I'm taking it that you did not do Street Eats at lunch time. As an MDR fan, and with family I can see why you'd miss Emerils, Rudy's and the Steakhouse. We didn't care that much for the dining mash-up known as Chibang.
At the sea day brunch, I was looking forward to the French toast, but it was just an oily, crunchy mess. Any diner could do better, probably even IHOP could do better. The buffet had better French Toast some days. (Emerald Princess had lousy French Toast made from smashed leftover dinner rolls; Celebrity and, I think, RCL both use warmed up frozen products). This was the first cruise I’ve been on where dining room tables don’t get tablecloths.
Carnival's Cloud 9 Spa on Deck 10 is the place to go for vacation pampering. Various treatments and therapies are available — from deep tissue and stone massages to acupuncture and other traditional Chinese techniques. Additionally, the spa offers hair and nail services, facials and medispa treatments. Spa lovers can stay in one of the 92 Cloud 9 Spa cabins and three spa suites with direct access to the spa.
The cost is $24 (per person) for adults and $6 (per person) for kids aged 11 and under — a great price for a fantastic meal. My husband ordered the "Straight Up" burger with all the fixings, and it was almost on par with others he's eaten on previous cruises. There were ample towel racks and three hooks on the back of the door. The bathroom was stocked with bath and hand towels, washcloths and a bar of soap. My room had two twin beds pushed together into a queen-size bed that was flanked by bedside lamps and two one-drawer, one-shelf nightstands. The living area had a long sofa that could transform into a bed or the bottom half of bunk beds.
